Elton John
Elton John has been confirmed as one of the first international stars due to play at the newly built Krakow Arena, with the singer booked to perform on 5 November.
The flamboyant British singer will visit Krakow as part of his ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road Tour’, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of acclaimed album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. The double album includes hits such as ‘Saturday night’s alright for fighting’ and ‘Candle in the Wind,’ although the singer will also perform tracks from across his career.
Elton John, who was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, has performed in Poland six times, beginning in Gdansk in 1984, when he saw to it that a bouquet of flowers was delivered by hand to Solidarity leader Lech Walesa.
Construction on the Krakow Arena began in May 2011, and the venue is designed to host a capacity of up to 18,000 people, depending on the type of event.The first events are due to take place this month, and bookings for international stars are now coming in. Elton John will be followed on 24 February 2015 by American singer Kate Perry.
